A fire that began in the second district of Seoul’s Guryong Village at 3:50 p.m. on October 27 spread to several nearby districts and was fully extinguished at 4:39 a.m. the next day, after burning for about 12 hours and 49 minutes. The blaze destroyed roughly 28,000 square meters and 99 homes, leaving 127 residents without housing; an earlier count had recorded 107 affected people across 77 households.

Plywood, vinyl, Styrofoam and insulation-filled temporary structures, strong winds, limited water pressure and narrow alleys made suppression difficult, while one woman in her 30s suffered a minor foot injury. Displaced residents were moved to temporary shelters at nearby schools and accommodations, as the village continues to face fire risks before its planned redevelopment.
