South Korean authorities confirmed foot-and-mouth disease in three cattle at a farm in Ganghwa, Incheon, during surveillance testing on October 28. The farm keeps 23 cattle and was already under movement restrictions because it lies within a 3-kilometer control zone around earlier Ganghwa outbreaks. Officials plan to cull the three antigen-positive cattle subject to detailed and clinical test results, while investigating the infection route and restricting people, livestock and vehicles from entering or leaving.
Authorities will disinfect livestock farms, facilities and vehicles nationwide from October 29 to November 4, with special attention to cattle farms in Ganghwa and nearby Gimpo.
