Police in Busan are investigating four companies accused of supplying counterfeit bearings to the Kori and Saeul nuclear plants. A nationwide inspection found 718 counterfeit bearings across four nuclear plants, including 489 of 1,412 bearings delivered to Kori; six were installed in Kori Units 1 and 2 for up to six months.
The investigation was suspended in November last year because the suppliers were overseas and international cooperation was needed, but it has recently resumed. The bearings have been discarded and the companies barred from bids, while police continue to verify the actual suppliers and transaction routes without setting a completion date.
