South Korea's labor ministry began inspections of 100 workplaces on November 3 to investigate long hours and unpaid overtime, especially among young workers. The review focuses on sectors including IT, professional services, hospitality and retail, with particular attention to workplaces around Seongsu-dong in Seoul. Employers repeatedly using special overtime allowances will also face joint labor and workplace-safety checks, and confirmed violations may result in correction orders, fines or referrals for prosecution.
