A man in his 40s suffered burns over 60% of his body after falling into a cavity formed when a district-heating hot-water pipe ruptured in Magok-dong, Seoul. The pipe burst at about 8:18 p.m. on November 6 near an apartment complex, causing the surrounding road surface to collapse.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition and is receiving intensive care after sustaining second- and third-degree burns. One Seoul Energy Corporation employee also suffered minor burns while working at the site, while hot-water and heating service to thousands of nearby households was disrupted.
