Swiss curling great Silvana Tirinzoni has been appointed head coach overseeing South Korea's national curling disciplines from the 2026-27 season. The appointment received final approval from the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee, bringing one of the most successful players of the modern era into Korea's national setup.
Tirinzoni retired from competition in April after a career highlighted by four consecutive women's world championships. Her teams also produced a record 42-match winning streak from 2021 to 2024, and she appeared at three Winter Olympics.
The next competitive test
The role is broader than coaching a single women's team. By overseeing national disciplines, Tirinzoni will be positioned to influence preparation and competitive standards across Korea's curling program, with the first season showing how her elite playing experience translates into program leadership.
