South Korea's U23 football team beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in its final Asian Games group match to finish first in Group D and advance to the quarterfinals. Both goals came from second-half headers.
Shin Min-ha opened the scoring before Kim Myung-jun added the second goal, giving Korea control of a match that had remained scoreless through the first half.
The victory sends Korea into a quarterfinal against Vietnam. A win there would move the team into the medal round and keep its tournament run alive.
The result also gives Korea a clean progression from the group stage after earlier matches against Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The quarterfinal now shifts the competition from group positioning to elimination football.
