The Korea Judo Association decided to lift the six-month international competition restriction imposed on Jung Su-jin after she was disqualified for exceeding the women’s 48-kilogram limit by 100 grams at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The performance committee concluded that the random weigh-in failure resulted from a coach’s mistake rather than the athlete’s own fault.
The association also plans to support Jung with psychological treatment through the Korea Institute of Sport Science. Women’s national team coach Jung Sung-sook will leave after the association decided not to renew her contract.
