Former South Korea international footballer Kim Young-gwon has lost his final appeal against an income-tax assessment exceeding 800 million won. The case concerned his request to credit taxes paid in China against income earned in Japan, while the Supreme Court held that country-specific credit limits applied and found that his main living base was in South Korea.

The Supreme Court’s Third Division recently upheld the lower court’s ruling for the Ulsan tax office, ending Kim’s lawsuit to cancel the assessment.
