The Korea Football Association’s plan to elect a new president within 2026 has effectively been put on hold after FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation raised concerns about proposed changes to the voting system. FIFA questioned whether secret-ballot principles could be fully protected if the electorate expanded to about 20,000 people and voting moved online.

A parliamentary sports forum had called for more representative voters, an independent election committee and open policy competition, but the association must now revisit both the election timetable and the reform plan.
