Baekseok University has signed an agreement with AI education company Freewheelin to develop Korean-language learning tools for international students. The two organizations signed the memorandum on Aug. 26 and plan to work on both a Korean textbook and a learning application. The stated goal is to combine Baekseok’s Korean-language teaching expertise with Freewheelin’s AI technology so students can study at a level better matched to their individual ability.
The project is relevant beyond a single university because South Korea is enrolling more international students while universities face pressure to provide practical language and adaptation support after admission. Personalized learning could help students who arrive with very different Korean proficiency levels, although an agreement to develop a system is not the same as evidence that the system already works.
The test comes with real student use
The next meaningful milestones will be the release of the textbook or app, details of how the AI personalization is designed and evidence from actual student use. Until then, this is best understood as a concrete development project rather than a completed education-technology rollout.
