Expansion of artificial-intelligence data centers is increasing demand for the optical equipment that moves data between facilities, bringing more attention to Korean suppliers of cables, amplifiers and transceivers. Maeil Shinmun reported that growth in data-center interconnect, or DCI, is raising component demand at the same time that some global optical suppliers are approaching capacity limits.
The report said part of that pressure may create opportunities for Korean manufacturers to win additional orders. It also noted unusually heavy trading in some related Korean shares, including 377.99 million shares of Bit & Electronics traded from September 1 through 16. The market activity is not evidence that every supplier will benefit, but it reflects investor attention shifting toward the physical networking layer required by larger AI computing clusters.
