Samsung Electronics has begun construction of a new HVAC production line at its Gwangju plant, targeting demand from AI data centers and other advanced industrial facilities. The company plans to invest about KRW 240 billion in the project.

The new facility will cover about 21,800 square meters at the site's third campus. Mass production is scheduled to begin in early 2028, giving the project a defined construction and commissioning timeline rather than remaining at the planning stage.

The line will produce cooling and central air-conditioning equipment, including components used in data-center thermal management. Samsung says the site will serve customers in Korea and other East Asian markets, as well as semiconductor, battery and large commercial facilities.

The investment links regional manufacturing expansion to the growing cooling requirements of AI infrastructure. The main milestones are construction progress, equipment installation and whether mass production begins on the 2028 schedule.
