Daegu University plans to open a university-run AI gifted-education institute in March 2027 after receiving final approval from the North Gyeongsang education office. The university says it will be the first institute of its kind in the province.
The program will offer basic AI, advanced AI and AI-plus-X tracks. The basic and advanced courses will accept students from fourth grade through the first year of high school without separating them strictly by grade.
A separate AI-plus-X track will focus on independent research for second-year high school students. The structure is intended to give younger students a progression from introductory work to more specialized projects.
Recruitment details and class sizes will determine how broad the first cohort can be. The institute adds a university-based pathway to the province's existing gifted-education system.
