Gwangju plans to build two semiconductor fabs first in the proposed Honam national semiconductor industrial complex. The city says the candidate site can support the required land, water and electricity and that construction could begin in 2028. Its current timetable targets first mass production in June 2030, making infrastructure delivery the next major test for the project.
