South Gyeongsang's AI wildfire-monitoring system recorded an error rate of about 79% last year, the highest reported among regions in the cited data. Of 106,061 detections, 22,140 involved actual smoke or flames while 83,921 were classified as false detections such as light, clouds or fog.
The regional error rate was nine percentage points above the national average of 70%, raising questions about how much manual verification the system still requires.
