AI smart glasses are raising privacy and exam-integrity concerns in Korea as cameras, microphones and generative-AI functions become harder to distinguish from ordinary eyewear. Two TOEIC cheating attempts were detected in May, and other qualification cases have prompted exam agencies and Seoul education authorities to tighten rules or discuss explicit bans.
Camera-equipped glasses also create covert-recording risks because people nearby may not realize they are being filmed, leaving regulators to catch up with a device category growing rapidly worldwide.
