Gangwon is where Korea’s mountain spine meets the East Sea, producing some of the country’s strongest combinations of national parks, forest routes, coastal towns and beaches.

The region also contains historic houses, museums and markets that give its mountain and seaside destinations more local context than a scenery-only itinerary would show.
